Retail Qualifications
The retail industry is the largest single industry of employment within Australia. Retail has long been a sector that provides the first experience of employment for many young people with approximately 82% of all young people citing retail as their first job. A large number of these young people go on to make a career in retail through the many areas covered by the retail industry.
The employment profile of the retail sector includes functional roles such as selling, customer service, merchandising, inventory, loss prevention, security, employee relations, clerical administration, finance, operations, planning and specialist areas related to product or supervise provision.
The retail industry recognises the number of people working in the industry who have not completed a formal qualification, but who will hold the necessary skills from certificate II for entry into higher-level qualifications.
